    We are proud to announce the release of RocketLauncher v1.0!


    In this release, all instances of HyperLaunch have been replaced with RocketLauncher. Also what was once HyperLaunchHQ is now known as RocketLauncherUI and HyperPause is now known as Pause. As you can imagine, this was a very intensive change. Changing all references from one name to another takes a very long time to do it right. Certainly never want to do that again.


    In case you haven't realized, the url here is now www.rlauncher.com. The old domain will still bring you here for awhile until I decide to expire it. So update your bookmarks.


    With this release, most of you will be happy that GIT is no more. You no longer need to be bothered installing another application to use RocketLauncher. I thank you all for putting up with it for the time until we could develop a proper method to get you updates. RocketLauncherUI now has a built-in updater that brolly did an excellent job with. Each time you launch RocketLauncherUI, and you are online, RocketLauncherUI will inform you if there are any new changes you need to download. All updates are handled internal to RocketLauncherUI. GIT will be taken down very shortly.


    So going forward, please use RL when talking about RocketLauncher and RLUI when talking about RocketLauncherUI. If you use HL, we will assume you are talking about an older version, which is not supported here.


    To ease the transition from HyperLaunch v3.x to RocketLauncher, I created a Transition tool to do all the work for you. You will also find the links to the initial upgrade pack there as well. Please see this guide on how to use them. It's only a few clicks and you will be all set to use RocketLauncher:

    Please see below for the changes in this release:

    General updates:

    • Many modules that did not have "Hide Emulator" support now do
    • DaemonTools is now known as VirtualDrive so future support can be added to other applications in the future
    • BetaBrite_Params setting changed default to "usb {AUTO}%FRONTEND%" which will replace FRONTEND with the plugin name so it can be used across any FE
    • Fixed a bug when ServoStik_Enabled & Hide_Cursor were set per-game, would take affect for other games
    • Fixed direct launching system selection not showing due to new system xml structure changes
    • Fixed bug in direct launch where it would show values that were not system names in drop down box
    • Exit_Script_Key default value changed from Q+S to PageUp+PageDown
    • Fade_Layer_4_W (Animated Image - Image Width) default changed from 128 to 200 because it was making the Rating image too narrow on default Fade
    • Fade_Layer_4_X (Animated Image - Animation X) default changed from 1792|952 to 1715|952 so the animated image would be on screen by default
    • Fade_Layer_4_Y (Animated Image - Animation Y) default changed from 891|1596 to 720|1596 so the animated image would be on screen by default
    • SaveProperties changed so it does not cause delays and only writes to HDD once.
    • Added systemDbName as it comes from the Front End in case media needs to be loaded from that name when an alternate systen name is mapped
    • PacDrive and DXwnd file checks moved into their functions and only verify existance when those features are used.
    • Added ability to trigger ScriptError w/o closing the module which can let the module handle errors and exiting properly from its environment
    • Now automatically copies example inis over to their working versions when CheckFile() is used to check their existence. Note, this is not used on example module inis because those inis are never required.

    Woho. Awesome work. Updated by following the instructions. No problems =)

    Oh, Changelog.txt in the root still refers to v3.1.0.5 BETA hyperlaunch. Yes, I deleted it and let the autoupdate grab it agan.

    Going through the process now. Thanks for all the hard work!

    Oh you gonna format my drive are you? I will find you. hahah. Just an FYI, if you're dumb like me, do make sure everything (folders, hyperlaunch, and hyperlaunchHQ) is closed before you run the transition program.

    Another little snag, not with the program, but with BlueStacks.
    I can't find a single instance of Bluestacks running in processes, set it to disable at startup etc. And yet, it was preventing me from renaming my hyperlaunch folder. I created a new folder called RocketLauncher and moved everything piece by piece to find out what it was. I still can't figure out how to Bluestacks completely off to delete the old folder, but on to more pressing matters.

    I should point out that I keep a "Global Emulators" folder inside my launcher directory and a copy of every emulator it supports.

    Addendum: Now that that unpleasant business with BlueStacks is fixed, let me be the first to confirm that I can launch directly from the new UI without having to change a single path. Bravo!

    I personally did have to go into Hyperspin/Settings/Settings.ini to change the path to the launcher, but I think that's probably because of the above fiasco with blue stacks.

    Great work guys there is some RocketLauncher Full pack or i have to download the last hyperlaunch 3 and fallow the update guide?

    Looks like you have to grab v3.1.0.5 and update it. I'm sure there will be a full pack soon though.

    Edit: Actually, looks like you can
    1: Create a RocketLauncher folder.
    2: Download and extract the RL Transition Update Pack to the empty folder: http://www.rlauncher.com/forum/downl...p?do=file&id=3
    3: Start RocketLauncher/RocketLauncherUI/RocketLauncherUI.exe

    It will tell you it wants to update. Let it and it will download the whole thing.
    Thats my guess anyway. I did a quick test and it said it wanted to download over 1000 files.

    Yea, didn't update the changelog yet, thanks for reminding me.

    There will be a full pack soon, this is mainly for current users, which is probably 98% of you.

    We actually don't need a clean install pack anymore because you can grab all the files from the RLUI updater. It might not have all the default media for fade though as we don't want to force that in case you change your local defaults.

    Yep but i provably start all over and use the default modules, as i see many new features that i add manualy to my HL3 modules, making it imposible to update :/ ... im sometimes impasient and end up making things myself... not always the best way posible... but the fast way :P

    Hi and thanks for this job, I tried using the transition pack and pointed everything to the right folder, strangely enough, RockerLauncher.dll is missing in Modules Extentions folder.
    Any clues?

    The transition went just fine! But unfortunately, it seems that I've run into my first error. I tried testing out RL by launching an Atari 2600 game, and received the error "No Default_Emulator found in "J:\HyperSpin\RocketLauncher\Settings\3-D Tic-Tac-Toe (USA).\Emulators.ini" Please set one so RocketLauncher knows what module to use." Don't know why RL is trying to make a folder for the game itself...

    I have a couple of bugs.
    When I open rocketlauncher ui, it asks me to update. When I select 'check updates' it gives me an error: "cannot read from a closed textreader". This is on step: "detecting outdated files"

    When I want to use rocketlauncher to launch a game, I get: "Missing C:\arcade\RocketLauncher\Module Extensions\RocketLauncher.dll"

    Also, during startup of rocketlauncher ui I have a lot of these errors in the log file:

    Without yet having intimate knowledge of how the new RL works, I'm going to assume that you'll get a lot of errors if that first update does not work correctly. Maybe try running RLUI in Administrator mode, in case you haven't tried that already? And then see if you can update properly.

    Awesome. Can someone tell me if this is the final version of hyperlaunch3 that was a beta? Is rlauncher the byproduct of that beta or a continuation of the beta at all? I've watch hl3 beta for a long time now and still on hyperlaunch2. It also sounds like the link in the original post will just do all the updating for us automatically? That's pretty amazing if so

    It sounds like you do not have the .net dependency installed, which RLUI requires to run.
