Interesting part on this release is that now MAME and MESS are officially merged into the same executable, curious to see if this will bring any implications to the existing modules, don't think so, but some testing will be needed.
Not exactly sure what this means yet in terms of ini files hierarchy for instance.

I don't think we need to merge them, that would only add more confusion. We can keep both modules and emulators separate they will just be pointing to the same executable from now on. Also you can still compile them as separate executables if you want.
At least not yet, let's give it a few more versions to see if they don't change their minds meanwhile, there was a long debate about this merge so I'd let the dust settle first.
