Panasonic 3DO not loading games from 7z

When loading directly an ISO image the games work fine. However when they are in a 7z archive and you try to load it throws an error saying that Daemon tools was sent the file extension " which is not a mountable format or something along those lines. It doesn't even list what the extension it was sent, just a single ". So it seems like some erroneous info is being passed along. 7z and iso are both extensions listed for the emulator.

Trying to post the HLHQ log but it is telling me it is too large, will find somewhere else to upload.

Use pastebin.com

Also make sure skipchecks is not enabled.

Pastebin wouldn't even let me without going pro cuz it was so big, it didn't look like other HLHQ logs I have seen which was weird. Had to leave but will check the skipchecks thing when I get home.

The HLHQ log is just that, HLHQ, not HyperLaunch. You need to post the HyperLaunch.log Make sure it is set to troubleshooting level in General Settings > Logging Level

I'm having this problem too, except it doesn't matter if a rom is 7zipped or not. When loading a game (Gex, in this instance), the 3DO title screen loads but says "insert disc."

I tried running this command from the RetroArch CLI but also had the same result:

Skipchecks are set to False. HyperLaunch.log is set to troubleshooting and is attached below. I haven't changed any RetroArch settings since I last had 3DO working, so I believe it's something that changed in the RetroArch module...?

It's really weird that this only happened recently though; I made no changes to the 3DO roms or RetroArch - the only things that have been changing are the modules and RL. It doesn't make sense that I should have to get new roms... I'm doing it anyways, with the set you recommended; it's just a pain in the butt to have to rename all these cue files now!

Why or what exactly are you renaming? You must already have a 3DO set in 2048 format if you were running them through Retroarch. Retroarch doesn't support cue files properly with it's 4DO core so you could have the cue extension before the iso extension in Hyperlaunch's emulator extensions for Retroarch. If that's the case the easiest thing would be to just delete all the cue files (you could rearrange your extensions but that would likely cause issues with other cores) as they aren't needed. You need to set up 4DO if you want to play all the games anyway since games like Crash n' Burn, Twisted, Phoenix 3, etc don't work with the Retroarch core.

Before reading your latest message, I assumed I needed to rename the TOSEC set to match the HS XML database I had.

I think you're right about the cue/iso order in RetroArch... I probably set it that way some time ago, or something, and then it changed.

Deleting the cue definitely worked! Thanks for the suggestion. However, seeing you mention that not all games work in RetroArch, perhaps it just makes sense to go back to 4DO instead. As long as there's bezel support, I don't mind using it. Do you think this move makes more sense?

I just created another emulator entry called retroarch 3do that didn't have the cue file as an extension that way its separate and there's no potential issues with order of the cue file.

That would work as well. I just deleted them as they are redundant.

That's your call.. I like the shaders so I just use 4DO as an alternate emulator for the couple games I know don't work. I hate bezels except for the portable systems so do what ever tickles your willy.

One last question - is there a list of certain games that don't work with RetroArch beyond what you have stated here?

Not that I know of. P.S. I remember you asking about CD-i and Retroarch. It works. Copy your config file from actual MESS and use that with Retroarch if you are still having issues.

Can you confirm that doing this means that you can actually press "Play" on the CD-i title screen? Because the problem in RetroArch was that no buttons seemed to map to that function. I've no problem with getting the system to work.
