[SOLVED] Project64 (v2.x), weird resolution with bezels.

I've just setup Project64 again, moving from some old 2.1 version to 2.2.0.3 using the Project64 (v2.x) module.

I've followed the module notes to set it up without problem. In fullscreen with bezels off, it looks great.

However, if I enable bezels, the image is just a small windowed picture in the middle of the screen. I've tried raising the windowed resolution in Project64, but that just results in a bigger window that goes outside the bezel limits. Do I have bad bezels?

I've just setup Project64 again, moving from some old 2.1 version to 2.2.0.3 using the Project64 (v2.x) module.

I've followed the module notes to set it up without problem. In fullscreen with bezels off, it looks great.

However, if I enable bezels, the image is just a small windowed picture in the middle of the screen. I've tried raising the windowed resolution in Project64, but that just results in a bigger window that goes outside the bezel limits. Do I have bad bezels?

FYI thought, as I read that, I should be able to change the window resolution, have the window centered and then fiddle with the bezel to make it fit? I fail at that too.

I use 1920x1200 as my native resolution. I set the window resolution in Project64 to 1024x768 and this is what I get (I get that the bezel is off, but whats up with the project64 window? Or did I misunderstand things?

Oh and by the way. the module notes say that the plugins save their data in the registry. I can not see that as true for 2.2.0.3. They save it in Project64.cfg. For example, resolution=13 equals 1280x1024 windowed resolution.

Please post your bezel.ini file for that bezel.
Along with the exact dimensions (in pixels) of your bezel.

If the bezel measures 1920x1200 and your emulator window is 1024x768 the ini settings should be somewhere around:
Bezel Screen Top Left X Coordinate=488
Bezel Screen Top Left Y Coordinate=216
Bezel Screen Bottom Right X Coordinate=1472
Bezel Screen Bottom Right Y Coordinate=522

FYI thought, as I read that, I should be able to change the window resolution, have the window centered and then fiddle with the bezel to make it fit? I fail at that too.

I use 1920x1200 as my native resolution. I set the window resolution in Project64 to 1024x768 and this is what I get (I get that the bezel is off, but whats up with the project64 window? Or did I misunderstand things?

Ok. Mine does this on the Glide plugin also. It has something to do with it taking much longer to render and resize the window. The emulator is too slow.
Open up the module and adjust the Sleep on line 53.
I had to turn mine up to 9000 before the bezel will display correctly. Turn off Fade to time it. ;)

And looks like you are correct. The settings for this version of PJ64 are now in the cfg file. Even v2.2.0.1 did not have this. Now, if only the emulator was truly portable and they did away with this installer.

brolly, this might be something we should add to RLUI Bezel section instead, this is the 2nd module we need to use this on.
Description: Amount in milliseconds to give the emulator time to draw its window before the bezel gets drawn. If the emulator window is not being sized correctly to the bezel window, try increasing this sleep in increments of 100.
Section: Settings
Key: Bezel_Delay

Only thing though is it would effect all emulators for that system in a scenario multiples are used.

Unless this is a very high amount I don't think it would really have too much impact on the user experience if it's used on other emulators. 5 seconds is kinda high though and N64 is one of those systems that will need multiple emulators for sure.
So not really sure if this should be added or treated as bezel offsets which are already set on a per module basis.

Hmm, then maybe keep it like the bezel offsets as that would make the most sense and give the best customization w/o limitations and forcing it on emus it's not needed. Was trying to avoid adding it to many modules is all.

djvj, I don't know if the same happens to you, but on the tests that I made, the order that you placed the HideEmuEnd() call gave problems to bezel draw function to properly resize and move the emulator window.

I think that maybe all these new erratic behaviors are due the emu hide code that you added recently.
As in the bezel I have to handle window resizing, it is possible that you hide emu code is avoiding that to happen as it should.

Did you already took a look at it? Or at least tried using the opposite order: the HideEmuEnd() before the BezelDraw() call?

I don't have any such issues though. If HideEmu is disabled, nothing is used, so I don't see how that is an issue if those are disabled and problem persists. Is that the case here?

Regardless, all HideEmu does is make the window transparent, that doesn't affect other Win calls, or resizing, you just can't see it. I never activate or change Z order or anything.

You could also simply comment out the HideEmu calls to test that theory as well but I doubt that's an issue.

I did not look at it because I never assumed it would have any effect. You could technically still resize and get window properties of a window even when transparent. It's still there!

Swapping those calls will decrease effectiveness of HideEmu because the emu will pop into view while it's is being adjusted by BezelDraw. Swap it for testing to prove what I said above, but I'd put it back if that's not the culprit.

Fun fact though. If you get an error message loading Project64, the bezel perfectly surrounds it. =))

You only need to increase the BezelDelay if you are using OpenGL. It takes so much longer to initialize the emu with OpenGL enabled.

Also, swapping the positions of the HideEmu and BezelDraw lines appear to make no difference on my setup.

Your changes work fine, although heavily annoying that the bezel does not get drawn fast enough so the game starts before it draws the bezel. That is the emulators problem though I guess.

I did try to force the window to center before bezeldraw. It works fine as well, but I get the title bar showing. I do get that with your BezelDelay too, but only sometimes..

I replaced the BezelDelay as such:

Personally, I'd change the module notes to "Supports bezels: Yeah, but its a pain in the arse" and be done with it =)

Not touching and ruining any more modules....
