For red alart, try changing the line at the bottom of the conf from
Code:
ra
to
Code:
@ra

Then set the module to look for @ra. I can't duplicate your issue here as the game still launched fine when selecting to be the single, server, or client, but I imagine just looking for ra when it can be found all over the autoexec section could cause issues.

Well that just makes too much sense. So your script goes through and finds ALL the RA's in the confg. then when it goes to launch it, your script comes up with rararara to launch it. As it found a bunch of ra's and it combined them all. That is what was doing with carmageddon too. Well I did not need to use the network direct exe anyway as the regular EXE worked fine for both those. will remember that though thanks for the info!

4 player doom was a blast.
Everyone loved heretic something about turning people into a chicken made death match even more fun 4 player.

5 player descent 2 was a blast.

The 2 bay nas is kinda slow for 4 people running off it especially extract Times in larger games so recommend having a local copy.

Intel cards on laptops was slow there again switching laptop res to 1024x768 helped alot.

Bonus when running off nas first person who runs client ip the rest did not need too.

Overall awesome.

I think based on all the testing I am leaving this where it is at until after my lan party. Will circle back in feb after I have feedback from alot more testing and look at Adding in my bbs, bbs client, gus support for the 141 games I have in the list currently.

Thanks again for all your help djvj.

Yea that's pretty much how it works. And int he case of just "ra", you can see how that would get confused. I do see the issue with just using it and there might be some room for improvement with it. Like for instance it might be better to check for a new line, then the executable name. But in this case, if another line started with ra, it would trigger it as well. I would have to require the entire executable line to be matched I guess.

Yea never thought about if a few ppl were hitting a NAS at once, would cause bottleneck issues. Not a normal scenario.

Sounds like you had fun though, glad to see it worked well.

Glad to hear it went well! I have no plans of doing anymore updates around lan play unless a bug is found.

I updated my RLU (i have not updated the one on my cab for like 8 months)recently and was hoping to have all those network settings added to the module for dosbox. Is there a plan to add those in the default module settings? I hate for others to redo work that has been already done. Thanks!

What settings are those? All of the settings I have are currently in the DOSBox (Example).ini included with the module. You just have to rename it to use.

I setup tekwar as 2 player but I see it can do 16 player ipx. Of i launch it with network server it says the game cant find ipx.

Can someone else test tekwar with ipx? Thanks!

Interesting thread :)

I began adding network multiplayer support to eXoDOS last month, and currently have about 100 games setup. With another 200 identified games to go. I've had 3 unable to get working, which isn't a bad ratio.

I've used a script call to query the computers ip (both wan and lan), and display it to the users at launch. There is an option for each game to be the host or to be a client, with specific instructions for either method once the game launches.

I came across this thread while researching Birthright: Gorgon's Alliance. It appears to be mentioned as working in some replies. In others however, it states that multiplayer is inaccessible.

Two other threads have ambiguously mentioned getting it to work in dosbox, but with no detail.

I did see NetBIOS mentioned on that one, but had no luck with it working (other NetBIOS games work fine for me, like Magic Carpet).

So I figured I'd ask if you guys did get Birthright running and actually have multiplayer selectable?

Either way, great work with all this. Looks like you were a few years ahead of me on this stuff ;)

You will love it! Game on! I do a dos LAN party twice a year and have 14 all in one computers set aside for it. People just show up and play it’s great. Need any help let me know.

Cheers!

Man, I read that page and didn't see that line.

I think what got me is in response #31 or this thread, DJVJ states that using something he uploaded fixed netbios, and it was in regards to this game.

I'll go ahead and mark this one as not available.

Thanks.
