Awesome. Let me know of if you figure out an auto aged method to get around uac. I'd like to try to incorporate something on install to do that.

RL for the moment is 32bit only.

Larger task than I thought. Made it through letter f for games. Mainly logged number of players and ones that need more attention. Alot worked. I missed a few on a resetup I had to do so at 198 games currently. Will get slimmed down more. Some modem games that will take some working for 2 player etc. Alot more work and sorting out than I anticipated

Would go faster if I wasnt extracting all the games every play. But need to make sure that works. For instance carmageddon max pack works fine in my cab but doesnt launch at all on this setup. You can see in dos it doesnt get to the correct folder and the commands are jumbled. Some games I cant even figure out where multiplayer is..lol. Like flying corps. Been fun seeing new stuff though..

Here is where I am at. I had to remove some more games tonight. I have been testing launching, selecting multiplayer and does it work? so.... Generally if I have listed number of players for a game it just works if there are notes beside the number of players I ran into an issue. I have been testing IPX/NetBIOS games mostly if I ran into a modem/serial game only I noted it. Made it up to the letter R so far. I am so stoked, I am over half way done with this madness and know why you chose to stop configuring stuff. I have not even actually tested games with multiple computers yet or off my nas. LOL.... well not really a lol because this could all be useless however just knowing how many players these games support and if they work will be helpful for the community to improve things :)

Any way Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ugh..you haven't been actually testing multiplayer and getting it to work? That's the hard part! Finding out players is grueling as well and will help in the end, but the difficulty is all the other settings and finding those files needed for multiplayer support!

It's good you are making note of what games use what networking type, that's another setting required in the module. So players and link type you have down at least.

It would often take me one evening to get maybe 1 to 3 games fully supported. I was wondering how you were going through so many so fast. I had to keep rewriting or adding support for more stuff each time I ran across another game that was slightly different than the others. That eventually led to burnout and other areas of RL fell behind, so I had to stop and move on.

Merry Christmas to you as well. Don't forget to take a break and enjoy the holidays! RL isn't going anywhere.

No biggie... I know that multiplayer will have issues as will running of my nas. Before I dumped the setup on the nas I figured I would do a 1 person pass make sure games worked, etc. Next it will be on to nas and fix uac stuff. Then next it will be test 2 or 3 players. Then on to lan parties.

If my bro did not cancel on me last night I would have had 2 player tested on those....Christmas though so..... Heading out of town tomorrow so wanted to give ya an update as it will be a few days for progress to happen and I know you are interested. :)

Well finished my first run through the games. So I noticed for super karts and another game you need to run the game with a /net flag and a port number not a big deal for a single 8 player game if you want to have more network games at the same time you need to be able to change the port.

Will log which ones may need your help as I think a couple have jumbled commands from the ahk injecting stuff into the conf. Wil let ya know.... Thanks

I love these old games. Manic karts is worse than super karts needs a game id number of players etc. In the readme.doc that comes with it, it says set the number of players for the number of players that will play. No max is stated. So can I do 100...who knows? I think I will set 2 as a default for now...lol

Ok here are the ones that do not even allow networking just as one person looking to select networking as an option. I also stared the ones that I need your help with as they seem to not launch at all after the module messes with them. For instance red alert goes to start the game with a RARARARA instead of just RA. Those are denoted by **.

Birthright - The Gorgon's Alliance (1996).zip - 4 Players (needs attention multiplayer is not an option)
Car & Driver (1992).zip - 2 players modem game (needs attention because it is a modem game)
**Carmageddon Max Pack (1998).zip - (doesnt work need djvj to take a look)
**Command & Conquer - Red Alert (1997).zip - (4 Players need djvj to look at it)
Conquest Earth - First Encounter (1997).zip - Doesnt Work
Dark Legions (1994).zip - 2 player modem neeeds dsome attention
Empire 2 - The Art of War (1995).zip - 2 Player (needs work)
Extreme Assault (1997).zip - 2 Player? needs work network doesnt highlight
Falcon 3.0 (1991).zip - cant figure out how to get to a network game
Firewind (1996).zip - cant find networking
Flying Corps Gold (1997).zip - ?????? canot figure out how to start a network game
HardBall 4 (1994).zip - 2 Players (null modem)
Jane's Combat Simulations AH-64D Longbow (1996).zip - (Exits needs work.)
Kick Off 98 (1997).zip - (cant get networking to be selectable from the main menu)
LineWars 2 (1994).zip - 2 Players says no network device detected.
Links LS 1997 (1996).zip - crashes dosbox
Lords of the Realm II (1998).zip - 2 Players (cant get to networking)
Mag-Racer (1997).zip - (cant see bottom of screen)
Magic Carpet (1994).zip - (cant select network)
Magic Carpet - Hidden Worlds (1995).zip - (cant select network)
Magic Carpet 2 - The Netherworlds (1995).zip - 2 Player (cant select network)
Manic Karts (1995).zip - (needs network direct setup with all proper flags see readme.doc)
MAX - Mechanzied Assault and Exploration (1996).zip - (goes to black screen)
MechWarrior 2 (Limited Edition) (1996).zip - (no netmech.exe)
MicroLeague Baseball IV (1992).zip - (crashes)
NBA Live 97 (1996).zip - (dont see a network option)
NCAA Championship Basketball (1996).zip - 2 Players (says No IPX Available)
Nerves of Steel (1995).zip - ( Cant figure out how to get into multiplayer)
Network Q RAC Rally (1994) - Copy protection
Nihilist (1996).zip - 4 Players (after selecting number of players exits)
Power F1 (1997).zip - 2 Player (serial game)
Spaceward Ho! (1992).zip - 20 Players (cant figure out how to launch network game looks interesting)
Spectre VR (1993).zip - 2 Players (looks the same as Spectre)
**Strife (1996).zip - (rocket launcher error on injecting network executable)
Test Drive - Off-Road (1997).zip - 2 Players (modem needs work)
Top Gun Fire at Will (1996).zip -(doesnt launch properly need djvj to look)
Track Attack (1996).zip - (needs work cant figure out how to launch multiplayer)
UEFA Euro 96 England (1996).zip - 2 Player (modem needs work)
Where in the USA is Carmen Sandiego Enhanced (1992).zip - (cant find multiplayer)
William Shatner's TekWar (1995).zip - 2 Player (modem needs work)
WipEout (1995).zip - (cant find multiplayer)

Priorities for me to figure out how to get working would be:
Birthright, Magic Carpet Games, Red Alert, Lords of the Realm 2. The rest I could almost care less, however for the sake of making things more complete could use help with those. If you can just look at the ones that have launching issues(the ones denoted with **) that would be a big help I can play with the rest later. For the time being tonight I will test moving to my NAS and working on getting the entire setup running from there.

Thanks.

Tested off my NAS. All I needed to do was install the font and add the \\nasipaddress to the local instranet sites in IE and everything just works on win7 and win8. Which I found interesting. Had a 3 player doom session work fine. Tested Magic Carpet 2 and that one worked fine. Blood worked fine 2 player. So I think my initial pass of going through and setting everything was a good success. Unfortunately, it will take forever to test these all myself. I think I am going to put these on the lan party nas now and do a few tests from there. Another thing I ran into was video card stuff, as in my laptop has a NVidia and so does my cab, the test laptop I had was a intel HD. and did not want to adhere to the aspect correction I had set in RLUI. Anyway very promising. This may be a lame fix and it is what I will use, setting the laptop to 1024x768 which is more than enough for any of these games makes it work perfectly.

So I guess if I can get more of the above games working we will be as good as gold until I can test multiplayer on them all. By the way thanks a bunch for having the multiplayer client remember the last IP address entered, may seem like a small thing but makes swapping games with the same server computer much better and simpler. I give the whole thing a A+ really.

Running stuff through testing on my 2 laptops and I found the one that runs the setup off the nas is extracting the games to the nas. Amusing really. It would appear that rocketlauncher is self aware of where it is and even if you put extract to %userprofile%\appdata\local\temp\hs for it to extract there it pre-appends the folders leading up to where rocketlauncher is located. It also wont let me run rocketlaunchui from the nas for some reason. I get the splash screen and then that disappears and nothing. However the rocketlauncherui.exe is running in the background. Thanks for any help.

did a read the 7zip doc and used windows temp instead worked a treat. Don't much care if rocketlauncherui works or not off the nas I guess it will be static so nevermind. :)

Fixed a few issues with games and got rid of a few more now that I am testing with multiple computers. Gonna be totally awesome when done. I am so stoked.. Up to letter d testing multiplayer on 2 computers

If my wife and kids were not out of town this would not be happening at such a good pace. Made it through letter m. So I am thinking I am half way. Got a bunch more games working and a bunch that dont and will be removed. Rtfm is helpful. Magic carpet needed a -networl flag. Lords of the realm 2 and a few others that I posted earlier are win95 networking only... Based on the manual. Fragile alliance was installed with no network support so fixed that and rezipped that game so it works for my lan party. Manic karts needed a /net flag added. Coming along nicely. Will get to a
Good working list for sure..:)

Trust me, I deal with IPs a lot and I knew it was critical to remember the last used IP in speeding up matches. Manually entering the same IP over and over again is grueling. So you're welcome :)

Lol there can be traces of AI in the code, so watch out! I hope you like wargames!

Running anything from a network drive requires a few extra security clearances, you can find a well-written guide on the wiki covering what should be everything you need to know.

I never suggest this though as it can potentially slow things down too much, especially if drives are spinning down, like green drives. I suggest only roms hosted remotely and shared via SMB. RL should be on the same drive as your FE so you know its currently spinning, or on an SSD for best performance.

Anything you had to rezip I am interested in, so please host them when you are done with them all. I can also let exo know so he can make the changes on the torrent as long as it didn't break anything, like single player.

If you want explanations on games not listed or removed I can give that however trust that the following is true:

1. I did not feel like learning to load custom wad files for games that were just doom/doom2 with a special wad
2. There were some games that use shadow warrior that I did not care to figure out how to load those custom games
3. Some games only had windows 95 networking
4. Some games just crashed or locked up
5. Some games I could not find a networking option
6. Some games were modem games and would not be that much fun for a lan party so I did not deal with modem only games.
7. Special note Heroes of Might and Magic supported network and did not work so used null modem and that worked fine.
8. The parsing and injecting the AHK stuff does doesn't work right for some games if additional options are entered like setup exe or network direct executable (at least on my setup), two specific examples are carmageddon max and command and conquer red alert
9. that's about all I got.
10. Oh 1 more thing testing included launching on 2 computer connecting the game and making sure it launched. (it is possible I screwed something up and missed testing one or two, I am only human)

I spent far too much time on this.................but I think this will help RL be the best dos lan party helper there is and make my upcoming lan party a huge success. Cheers!

Thanks RL team for your hardwork on this.

For red alart, try changing the line at the bottom of the conf from
Code:
ra
to
Code:
@ra

Then set the module to look for @ra. I can't duplicate your issue here as the game still launched fine when selecting to be the single, server, or client, but I imagine just looking for ra when it can be found all over the autoexec section could cause issues.
