1) speaking about the 4 different mame packs, if i try to consolidate them in one folder (for example artwork\3countb --> inside i unzip the zip file from the standard pack and then i overwrite it with the zip file from the widescreen pack), i can only view the bezels listed in the default.lay file present on the last pack that i overwrite (in this case, the widescreen zip file). But if I split the 4 archives (artworks\artwork\3counb.zip, artworks\artwork_ws\3countb.zip and so on) i can only see these bezels: https://i.postimg.cc/t4c4wC7k/Immagine.png
In order to see all the bezels i shoudl have manually edit the default.lay file for each game, adding all the .png files from the 4 packs, for every game...too long...

2) ok! for RL is "MAME Unified Bezel Pack (RocketLauncher)(Metalzoic)". I will try them in MAME too...i want to see if they work

You'll know RL bezels because they use .ini files instead of .lay files. They cannot be used in mame itself. Well technically you can convert the ini files to lay files but if you have Phulshoff's pack, he has done this already.

Now to consolodate all the mame bezels to one archive, simply use bezel specific .lay files instead of one default.lay file.

To do this you can just rename the "default" part of the name to exactly what the .png is called. Then they can all reside in one archive.

1) I looked for the Phulshoff's pack on Emumovies FTP: is it the "MAME Standard Bezel Pack (MAME)" pack?
2) in order to consolidate in one folder (for each game) every bezel, have I to create a .lay file with the name of each .png file? For example, here there is the default artwork folder for 3 Count Bout:

In every folder there is each own default.lay file. And some files are present in both the folders as you see.
So i have to create a .lay file for each .png file, renaming the default.lay file of each folder with the name of each file present in that folder. Am I right? It is a really long work...:(

In this case i'm lucky because all the files in the default artwork folder are included in the widescreen folder, so it isn't necessary to create a specific .lay file for each file, I suppose.

After a lot of messing around with no luck I've come for help.

I've done everything instructed in the first post, have all my bezels unzipped into folders in the media/bezels/mame folder and they just refuse to work. I've setup hot keys, tried many games, smashed the hotkeys, made sure rocket launcher bezels were selected in the mame module. Fade ins and outs both work fine, bezels just refuse to even load.

What could I be missing?

BTW I downloaded the bezel pack from emumovies.


Edit: Of course it was something somewhat stupid. I used the launchbox plugin and it added my mame games under the arcade system. I just needed to rename the mame folder with the bezels in it to arcade and everything works.

Hey man, I watched your video but I am not fully understanding what is different about your files compared to the two on the Emumovies FTP "MAME Standard Bezel Pack (MAME)" and "MAME Unified Bezel Pack (RocketLauncher)(Metalzoic)". Can you please explain?

These are new and fresh off the presses from the bezel project. You can use these as well as alt bezels. That’s what I did!
