So I've been trying to get the single sign on working with MediaWiki for some time (this means it syncs with the forum database for user credentials), but the plugin has not been updated in a long time and doesn't support the latest mediawiki or vB. I tried just getting the mediawiki side working, but that simply gives me a blank page and I can't seem to get any help on the issue. I even tried installing an older 1.20 mediawiki that the plugin supports, but I always get that same blank page. Instructions are super simple too, so that's not it.

My only other choice is to just use a standard login process and mediawiki keeps its own db and user credentials, but at least I can keep it updated to the latest w/o worrying about plugins no longer working.

What do you guys think I should do, wait it out to get single sign on working, or have everyone create accounts for the wiki side?

Re: HyperLaunch Wiki

Well..u can start with a wiki side account an when single sign on works use that and mention it in a sticky..this way it prevents long threads solving the basic questions

I don't personally know mediawiki... If i just have more free time i will help you but right now is impossible, is better to have both apps with single login, if i can will investigate, i work with web apps before.

Re: HyperLaunch Wiki

marx, once I go the separate route, it wil be harder/impossible to go back because downgrading will likely break things and the db may not be compatible with older versions.

knewlife, if I knew how to tell where the error was happening, I can trace it, but a blank page tells me nothing. I appreciate the help when you get time.

Re: HyperLaunch Wiki

Well, if migrating to a single sign on solution breakes the information on the wiki then its a no go.
Set a deadline for the solution if you cant fix it before that time go with two seperate accounts.
I personally prefer good information in one place then having one account.
I spend hours collecting threads with guides at the hyperspin forums about keymapping.
So another account to find information quickly is no problem with me, also because i started two months ago..

Re: HyperLaunch Wiki

Well, i read that mediawiki is writen in PHP, so to PHP to dysplay any error msgs you should have display_errors set to 1 in the server's php configuration and maybe you should change error_reporting too. (those are ini values in php.ini, which in web servers is not accesible to you directly, but via control panel setup)

Re: HyperLaunch Wiki

Thanks man, but I got it working already :)

Tried an older plugin I found that's not as advanced as the one I was trying before, but at least it works. And also on the latest MW version too!

Re: HyperLaunch Wiki

Good, glad to see you are in.

NP at all, even if you contribute something, we can always go over it and correct the grammar. I'm, always doing that with bleasby's stuff.

Hey DJVJ....QQ: Are there plans to have someone make the Wiki changes and implement the guides that the community creates or are you preferring that the community make changes to the wiki directly without a "middle man" to submit changes to?

Re: HyperLaunch Wiki

As of right now the community can do what they want . Eventually we may have something like that though. But I figured leaving it open is the best way to jumpstart progress.

I only do that to make you happy because I know how do you get wen you are unable to find any errors on my code changes. :p

Re: HyperLaunch Wiki

I would actually prefer it on the wiki. Figured over time that can be moved.

Re: HyperLaunch Wiki

If I can escape from job on Sunday, I can copy the contents of the google site to the wiki (not all maybe but at least start the work), and edit the main page with the links... so its not so empty :/, what you say?

Re: HyperLaunch Wiki

Sure, sounds like a plan. Even just starting will get others interested in helping out. Nobody likes to start from scratch, but with a structure in place, makes it more inviting.

Re: HyperLaunch Wiki

It takes a little getting used to the syntax, but it's not that hard once you get going and understand how to make sections and bold/headers/links/etc.
